RSPCA appeals for information after dog is beaten outside supermarket in St Ives

The RSPCA would like to speak to a man who may have key information about a dog beating which took place outside a Co-op supermarket in St Ives.

Witnesses reported seeing an individual hitting a chocolate brown coloured Labrador outside the Co-op in Royal Square in St Ives on Saturday 28 September at around 8.30am.

CCTV footage shows the incident taking place. The video shows an individual striking the dog first with the lead, then with his hand and then he picks up the dog by the collar and throws the Labrador to the ground.

Now, the RSPCA has released an image of a man in the vicinity at the time who they believe may have key information about the incident to support their enquiries.

RSPCA Inspector Natalie Avery, who is now investigating said: “We are keen to speak to this man as we believe he may hold key information.

“We are keen to find out more about the incident, and check on the dog involved, so we hope this man comes forward or can be identified as we believe he can support our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RSPCA’s Inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
